Who Am I

As you can see, I'm not much for these bios, though truth be told I'm usually curious about where other people are coming from. Me, I'm an American living in Toronto with my family. Prior to that, I did a fair bit of bouncing around, having previously lived in Rome, Washington DC, Shanghai, Chicago, and Vancouver.

I've done different things here and there, as well. I worked for the excellent Italian journal Limes in Rome. I worked for a law firm in Shanghai, and I've consulted on this and that all over. I've also spent a good deal of time in academia–I have an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago and a PhD in political science from the University of Toronto.

Among other things, I'm presently a Research Fellow with the Institute for Peace & Diplomacy. Outside of this website, I write on whatever catches my interest, and you can find some of those writings collected here.
